This series consists of Alex Jay's earliest donations, which include various comic books drawn by Chinese Americans, mostly from the mid-1990s (some of the comics include Aquaman and Green Lantern); record albums (both of Flower Drum Song); books; subject files on such topics as I. M. Pei, Maya Lin, directors, Chinese literature, food and restaurants, sports, and art and artists, among others; periodicals, such as Time and Asia; playbills; and a coloring book.

This series consists of one book donated by Alex Jay in 2001, "Madame Chu's Chinese Cooking School", by Grace Zia Chu.
2001.035, 1991
This series consists of one book donated by Alex Jay in 2001, "Laurence Yep: The Lost Garden", a memoir by the author of "Dragonwings" from 1991.
2004.065, 1995
This series includes one book donated by Alex Jay in 2004, "I.M. Pei: Mandarin of Modernism" by Michael T. Cannell, which was published in 1995.
2004.100, 1977-1992
This series includes books and magazines donated by Alex Jay in 2004. All of the books are cookbooks, including "Kikkoman Oriental Cooking and More" and "Sunset Wok Cookbook," and they range in date from 1977-1992. The magazines consist of various issues of ASIAM (The Asian American Magazine) and Rice from 1987-1989.
2007.001, 1902-1909
Two books comprise this series, both donated by Alex Jay in 2007. They include a report from the Committee on Immigration of the US Senate from 1902 and "Pictures of Old Chinatown by Arnold Genthe" from 1909. Both books are in fragile condition.

The materials in this series were part of a donation by Alex Jay in 2015. The donor organized the materials by author/artist/actor and that system has been maintained. The majority of the materials are books (including comic books) and periodicals, but there are also some artworks and documents.
